"Possibilities" a Free Demonstration of Book Arts and How to Create a Simple Book

Blue Whole Gallery is hosting local artist Lisa Gilbert’s presentation and demonstration of book arts and book binding.  Her presentation is titled “Possibilities.”  Gilbert’s demonstration will provide hands-on experience, giving participants the opportunity to create a simple book structure using paper and waxed linen thread.  Materials will be provided at no charge.
 
Gilbert, a book artist since 2008, has taken dozens of book arts and printing classes in the US and England.  She has taught many classes in the US and has exhibited her books in galleries, studios and stores.  Gilbert started making blank journals and artist books before moving to more complicated, three-dimensional structures.  Each piece is truly one of a kind, incorporating unique paper, fabrics, collage, thread, text, ephemera and natural treasures.
